The Story
When a flag is loved long enough, it wakes up.
The old rumor
Every country has its quiet superstitions. America’s is this one: a flag that is loved long enough — saluted, folded, mended, carried through rain — soaks the love up like dye. It settles into the weave. And one day, when nobody is looking, the flag opens its eyes.
For two hundred and fifty years the rumor stayed a rumor. Flags over porches in Ohio. Flags on fire trucks and fishing boats. A flag in a shoebox that a kid in New Jersey refused to throw away. A flag standing perfectly still on the Moon, where there is no wind at all — and waving anyway, if you looked at the photo long enough.
They were all listening. They were all waiting for a birthday big enough.
July 4, 2026
On the nation’s 250th Fourth of July, at the stroke of fireworks over New York, 2,500 flags woke up at once.
Not solemnly. Flags don’t do solemn when nobody’s watching. They woke up the way anything wakes up on its birthday — blinking, grinning, immediately arguing about hats. One put on a cowboy hat. One hundred and forty-nine reached for Uncle Sam’s stovepipe. A few found lasers behind their eyes and decided to keep them. Exactly sixty of them had something to say out loud — mostly WEN and MOON, once in a while, quietly, THE FLAG.
Each one is 48 by 48 pixels of living cloth, waving in a breeze that never stops, because the wave was frozen at its most alive moment and will never be redrawn. One silhouette, shared by all. Two thousand five hundred souls, shared by none.
That same night they were minted — permanently, immutably — on Hedera. No reveal games, no pending metadata. What woke up is what exists: Token 0.0.10622407, frozen forever.
The only flag collection minted on America’s 250th July 4th. We checked every chain: no one else did it. Not one of many. The only one. And the sky it woke up under was no accident — Hedera is the official blockchain partner of the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, the body in charge of America’s 250th. The right flags, on the right day, on the right chain.
Why the numbers matter
The supply is not a marketing round-number. It is a history lesson wearing a rarity chart:
- 13 MYTH — one for each colony that started it all.
- 50 LEGEND — one for each state that carries it now.
- 76 EPIC — the Spirit of ‘76, the year the pen hit the parchment.
- 250 RARE — one for every year between then and now.
- 335 UNCOMMON — the folks in the middle of the crowd, where parades are loudest.
- 1,776 COMMON — the founding year itself, made of the many. Common here does not mean ordinary; it means of the people. It is the biggest tier because that’s how founding years work.
Full transparency: the team holds back a vault of 101 flags (the logo #1929, 4 MYTH, 46 LEGEND, 50 EPIC) — which means 9 of the 13 MYTHs remain mintable for collectors.
And yes — the brand logo itself is one of the 2,500: The Flag #1929, a white-background flag flying the starfield canton, the sky that hasn’t happened yet. The face of the project is literally a piece of the collection.
Thirteen colorways run through the collection, from Classic cotton to Vintage 1776 parchment, all the way out to Gold 24K (eleven exist) and Cosmic (two exist, and they know it). Five star-eras span the canton’s history — the Betsy ring, the thirteen colonial stars, the old 48, the modern 50, and a starfield that hasn’t happened yet.
What a Flag does all day
A Flag waves. That’s the job, and they take it seriously — 24 hours a day, on-chain, without a flagpole. Beyond that, they are individuals: some grumpy, some stoned on sunshine, some wearing a whale on their head for reasons they decline to explain. One in a great while, one will blow a bubble of gum, or breathe fire, or puke a small dignified rainbow.
They are patriotic the way a golden retriever is patriotic: sincerely, unconditionally, and mostly about snacks and parades.
The universe keeps unfurling
The Hedera genesis is only the first sky. The same wind is headed to the XRP Ledger (SEED 589, with the 8% royalty woven natively into the ledger’s TransferFee) and to Solana (via Metaplex Core), each with 2,500 completely new, unique flags — new souls, not copies. After that: Base.
The second sky is open: the XRP Edition — 2,500 new one-of-ones, never copies — is live on xrp.cafe.
A flag for every sky. A sky for every flag.
An Old Glory Universe project.
